LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy at an AmeriCorps event

Los Angeles Unified Schoolhouse superintendent John Deasy submitted his resignation this forenoon, afterward more than a year of turmoil and conflict with the 7-member elected school board. Deasy reportedly cut short a trip to South Korea to negotiate the terms of his divergence.

Deasy took over from one-time Superintendent Ramon Cortines 3 and a half years agone, when Cortines retired. In an unexpected plough of events, the lath named Cortines, at present 82, as acting superintendent to replace Deasy, beginning on October twenty. Towards that stop, Dr. Deasy has agreed to remain on special consignment with the District until December 31, 2014.
